Me on the Road talking on Radio.
Moving on the Road, kids would carry our equipment in return for cigarettes and food. Doc Martinez on right, Sgt. Basile on left.
My family had sent me a musical Nativity but I didn't want to carry it with me so when one of the local girls that would come visit us while on the road selling pop and other wares came out I gave to it a girl we called Sally. She of course had never seen anything like it and said "I keep for ever and ever." Notice all the kids in my "tent" along with my backpack and M16 rifle with 18 rounds in the magazine.
This is one of the pictures I carried with me. My 1966 Mustang Convertible, 289, Dual exhaust, Mag wheels, hood locks and a 8 track player. I bought it when I was a Senior in High School, 1966 Loved that car. When I was in Vietnam my brother told my dad to sell it because by the time I came home the tires would be rotten. When I got home I went looking for it, found it but it had been wrecked so I went out and bought a brand new 1969 Torino Convertible, drove it back and forth from Ft. Knox almost every weekend. Loved it too but not like my Mustang.
Me showing my pictures from home of my family, my car 1966 Mustang convertible and my dog to the villagers.
Here we are passing the villagers with their goods.
It was like watching a parade.
Everyone runs to see the tanks.
APC's practicing an assault.
Everyone lining up for the "Mad minute." This is where everyone lined up and fired their rifles as fast as possible for one minute.
